Servant Leadership Experiences
North Dakota Association of Colleges for Teacher Education
I delivered a presentation on Differentiated Instruction at the North Dakota Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (NDACTE) Spring conference in 2016. While at the conference, I was also able to attend a few other interesting and informative presentations.
I have included the PowerPoint from my presentation and photos of the event.
Heritage Center Teach (Fall 2016)
The pre-service teachers at the University of Mary are afforded the opportunity to teach lessons at the Heritage Center in Bismarck North Dakota on various topics as they relate to North Dakota studies to rotations of area 4th grade students. My partner, Ashley Meyer, and I taught four rotations of lessons on the Homestead Act and its impact on North Dakota. I have included the lesson plan for the teach, the resource set I compiled for research for the lesson, and photos of the event. The lesson included not only introductory information regarding the Homestead Act but was also supplemented with simulations which allowed students to embody the lives of homesteaders.

I volunteered once a week for six years at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. My responsibilities at the Medical Center included working in the gift shop, transporting wheelchairs and delivering flowers to patients. While it may sound like simple work, the reaction of a patient fresh out of surgery or a new mother who is greeted with an arrangement of flowers and balloons brightened my day. The simple gesture showing that someone was thinking of them was enough to make them smile, despite any pain they may have been experiencing and that was something incredible to see.
